Lucky Peter Radford had a Dream end to the season when he won £500,000 with The Sun's Dream Team - the biggest prize in fantasy football history!
Peter's team, Redkins United, was part of a 35-team mini-league organised by colleague Benn Cockroft whose members nearly all work in the freezer section of Morrisons supermarket distribution warehouse in Wakefield, West Yorks.
In an act of impressive generosity Peter will be sharing his prize winnings with the other members of the mini-league who will all take home more than £7,000 each. Peter is also giving £125,000 to a close friend.
Peter, an Arsenal fan, plans to share out the sum and use his £125,000 slice to help fund his retirement next year. He told The Sun: "I'm due to retire next year so this really means I can do it in style. "To be honest I'm a bit shocked I won. I left all the big name players out and went for a mixture of moderate seniors and players with up and coming talent. It paid off as the big players like Lampard, Drogba, Torres and Rooney have had poor seasons. "The team started steady but after the first transfer window got into the top 10 and stayed there until the new year when I got the top spot, and I haven't been knocked off since."
Peter's winning team, Redkins Utd, finished on an incredible 2019 points.
Football knowledge runs in Peter's family, as his brother is John Radford, who was capped twice for England and played centre forward for Arsenal between 1964 and 1976. The runner-up prize of £50,000 went to Mike Byrom, 45, from Barnsley, South Yorks. Mick's team were just 29 points behind Peter's.
