Morrisons has teamed up with News International in conjunction with MediaEdge CIA to support their 'Let’s Grow' initiative, designed to encourage children to grow fruit and vegetables in schools and understand the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
Morrisons wants to inspire children of all ages to roll their sleeves up and get their hands dirty through the practical experience of growing food within the school environment, which will lead to a better understanding of fruit and veg and a healthier lifestyle.
By collecting special Let’s Grow vouchers, promoted in The Sun and The Times and with purchases of over £10 in Morrisons, schools can exchange them for free gardening equipment to encourage pupils to create their very own fruit and vegetable patch. The in-paper activity is aimed at driving community involvement in the initiative and encouraging redemption within the store,as well as celebrating the schools who are taking part.
In addition, The Sun and The Times are giving the initiative full editorial backing with dedicated features and endorsement for the duration with the support of The Sun's Gardening columnist Peter Seabrook.
The activity kicked off on 22nd September with a giant folding-out-poster-guide to growing vegetables that will be plastered across walls in thousands of schools nationally. A ‘Sow, Grow, Cook’ sixteen-page supplement appeared in The Times on Saturday 5th October featuring everything you need for a kitchen garden. Activity will continue well into the new year.

Following the success of Let’s Grow 2008, teachers have been noticing the benefits of ‘growing lessons’ on children’s learning and behaviour, not just learning about where their food comes from but about the benefits of working together as a team.
