News International Commercial appoints marketing head

London, 28 October 2008:  News International’s commercial division today announces the appointment of Robert Francis to the newly-created role of head of marketing.

Francis’ remit will cover all NI titles including The Times and The Sunday Times, The Sun, News of the World and the thelondonpaper. The creation of this new position follows the recent re-organisation of the NI commercial division.

Currently marketing director at out of home media owner Admedia, Francis will join News International in November, and will report into News International business intelligence director Claire Myerscough. Previous to Admedia, Francis was head of marketing at SMG Out of Home.

Myerscough said of the appointment: “The creation and seniority of this role will ensure we communicate effectively the values of the new NI commercial organisation to our customers in the advertising industry”.

Francis added: "News International prides itself in intelligent communication with industry decision makers. I'm looking forward to playing a part in helping advertisers and their agencies to further understand and engage with the valuable and distinctive audiences that the many platforms and channels deliver.”
