The restructure is part of the transformational change programme kicked off by NIC last September to take on the unique challenges of the modern media world. As NI’s business transforms itself into a multi-platform media company, a new commercial structure has been developed to be smarter, more efficient and more profitable amidst competition and constant change.
Following on from the recent hiring of Ian Dowds and Matt Shreeve as sales director and trading director respectively, internal promotions within commercial director Dominic Carter’s team include:
Director of digital integration (new role) - former head of Sun Digital Martin Corke. Corke will help articulate how digital can become a compelling integral part of NIC’s commercial deals in the future. Corke will report into commercial director Dominic Carter.
Head of Times Media (new role) – former head of trading for Times Newspapers Lee Gibson will be responsible for all print, online and iPad sales.
Head of Classified Media (new role) - former head of digital classified Louise Crosby will be responsible for classified across print and digital.
Head of Sun Digital - Previous sponsorship account manager Catherine Frusher steps up to replace Corke.
Gibson, Crosby and Frusher will report into Dowds.
Meanwhile, director of advertising strategy Abba Newbery announces her new team:
Head of Times Newspapers strategy (new role) – former communications strategist Dylan Wyn Pugh
Head of News Group Newspapers strategy (new role) – former communications strategist Brendan Judge
Head of Emerging Platforms (new role) – former head of digital advertising trading Hamish White
Head of Business Analytics (new role) – former business analyst executive Matthew Mather
Partnerships director (new role) - former agency account director Karin Seymour
Head of creative solutions – former head of sports sponsorship Spencer Field who will report into Seymour.
Reporting into director of business services director Steve Bottomley:
Head of digital operations (new role) – former digital ad operations manager Lisa Charran.
All changes take place with immediate effect. One role in the commercial team is still to be filled – head of category development.
NIC managing director Paul Hayes said: “News International Commercial enters 2012 with a new industry-leading team dedicated to creating profitable and enduring relationships between advertisers and readers."
