Prime Minister's wife Sarah Brown guest edits Fabulous Magazine

The News of the World announced this Sunday that Prime Minister's wife Sarah Brown will guest edit a special edition of Fabulous magazine. Sarah made a special trip to Wapping this week to put her finishing touches to the mag, which will be on sale with the News of the World on July 19.

Sarah, who is patron of the health research charity Wellbeing of Women (WoW), has spent several months working closely with the Fabulous editorial team, producing the fascinating special edition to raise awareness of women's health issues.

"Guest editing this special issue of Fabulous has certainly been a brilliant new experience for me,'' says Sarah Brown. ''I've loved every minute. The July 19th edition marks the start of a campaign by the magazine to raise funds to help WoW's scientists make the next breakthroughs in women's health. They do groundbreaking work.

''And I believe it's vital to share information with as many women as possible across Britain - information that helps us enjoy greater health, to be body aware, to have fun and enjoy life. I hope as many women as possible will read Fabulous on the 19th."

Sarah, 44, interviews Jools Oliver, wife of TV and Fabulous chef Jamie, about the agonising fertility problems Jools overcame to produce three healthy babies. Her themed issue includes TV doctor Hilary Jones on medical issues, which are often regarded as 'taboo' - yet affect thousands of women. Sarah also included poignant real-life stories from mothers who gave birth to miracle babies thanks to the pioneering work of WoW.

Liz Campbell, Director of Wellbeing of Women, says: "We are thrilled to be working with Fabulous because millions of women will be inspired to talk about their bodies and break the taboos around gynae health. The money that Fabulous readers raise will make a huge difference to the medical research we support and bring better treatments for the future.”

Wellbeing of Women aims to help young women whose lives are disrupted by chronic gynaecological conditions such as PMS and endemetriosis, women who are anxious to become pregnant, and those who are affected by gynaelogical cancer. Half of all women in Britain will experience a reproductive or gynaecological problem. One in four pregnancies end in miscarriage, and 6,800 women a year are diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

WoW-funded research is already responsible for breakthroughs in ultra-sound scans during pregnancy and in cervical cancer screening.

Jane Johnson, Deputy Editor of News of the World and Editorial Director of Fabulous magazine says: "We hope our unique collaboration with Sarah Brown and the Wellbeing of Women charity will help raise awareness of women's health issues among our 5.5 million Fabulous readers and beyond. We look forward to a long and fruitful partnership with this important charity and thank Sarah for committing so much time and energy to a cause close to her heart."
