The Audit Bureau of Circulations figures published today for August show The Sun was the only national newspaper to achieve a six month year-on-year increase (3,122,786 - March to August 08).
The paper continued to be the best performing tabloid in the UK in August with a total circulation of 3,148,792.
The six months to the end of August also notched-up The Sun’s sixth consecutive six month year-on-year increase in circulation. In addition, the Scottish Sun continues to be Scotland’s number one newspaper, selling 380,552 copies on average each day.
Roland Agambar, sales and marketing director of News Group Newspapers, said:
“We’re delighted, the latest figures show our readers love what we’re doing. In August we ran over 300 exclusives across news, entertainment and sport. Last month we defied the credit crunch by lowering our cover price to 30p, offering greater value than ever, and adding to the reasons so many millions pick up The Sun everyday.”
