The Sun launches iconic advertising campaign

The Sun has launched an iconic advertising campaign to launch the paper’s new season of unbeatable football coverage - featuring its star football columnists Terry Venables, Harry Redknapp and Ian Wright.

The three footballing legends appear in the TV, online, print and outdoor ads, giving their opinions on the new season.

The ads (click here to view) aired last night (August 12) in and around England’s international friendly against Holland on ITV1 and will run for seven weeks.

Here is a taster of The Sun’s top columnist’s opinions – but can you guess which quote is from which footie expert?

1. “Badge kissing? absolute load of old tosh!”

2. “The sooner they start docking points for diving, the better.”

3. “No Ronaldo? No Tevez? No chance.”

During their time filming the eye-catching black & white ads, the must-read trio spoke about their love of the game, their opinions on the forthcoming season and England’s chances of winning the World Cup next summer in South Africa.

Tottenham boss Harry is in no doubt what can be done under coach Fabio Capello:

“Of course we can win the World Cup. I say this is the best group of footballers we have had since 1970 when, in my opinion, we should have won.”

The Sun is also marking the start of the new season by giving every reader a copy of the new Barclay’s Fixture Guide, a 52 page pocket-size booklet completely free inside the paper this Saturday (August 15) - Excludes Scotland.
