The Sun signs Alex Zane as film critic

TV presenter and Sky Movies film buff Alex Zane has joined The Sun as its new movie critic. Zane, 30, will write for the paper every Friday. His first review will be on Friday 27 November, where he will give his views on 'Paranormal Activity', the new budget horror flick that has taken America by storm.

Zane will join The Sun’s list of top writers, which includes regular columnists Lorraine Kelly, Jeremy Clarkson and Ally Ross. The paper has also seen recent guest editorial from top celebrity writers including Frankie Boyle, Ken Livingstone, Harry Hill and Russell Brand.

Zane commented: “I have always had a huge interest in movies and the world of cinema and I can’t wait to share my passion for film with Britain’s best loved newspaper, The Sun.

“Each week I will be commenting on the latest cinema releases, on what’s hot and what’s not, and giving The Sun readers my picks for the week.”

Zane is adding more movie work to his repertoire, having built a reputation as one of the UK’s favourite film experts with his hit weekly show ‘Alex Zane’s Guest List’. The show is now in its third series on Sky Movies Premiere/HD with a fourth series set to follow in Spring 2010.

The column, which is brought to the paper in association with Sky Movies, will appear in the newspaper’s award-winning ‘Something for the Weekend’ section.
